A graduate of Duke University and Korean war veteran, Bob served as Communications Officer
of the U.S.S. Fiske (DDR-842) until his assignment as an Instructor in Chemistry
at the U.S. Naval Academy. After military service, Bob joined Esso Research

digital computers that were the precursors of today's machines.
Bob then joined Esso International in New York to develop computer modeling tools
and corporate models for use in strategic planning. He later transferred to London
to develop and implement the computer systems used by Esso Europe to coordinate logistics planning
and scheduling.
Bob returned to the U.S. (Houston) as Supervisor of the Math/Computing/Systems
group of the Supply Department of Exxon USA. In that assignment he participated
in a wide variety of computer-related activities involving logistics planning, supply coordination,
economic analysis, computer modeling, operations research,
and computer system development.
In 1986, Bob left Exxon and started his own independent consulting practice, focussing on using
computers effectively in quantitative business planning. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Houston Area League of PC Users, a 16,000-member computer user group, and serves as a mentor and trainer to clients in the business and academic communities.
